When Lipscomb University first approached Advent about creating a Missions Center, we worked together to identify three clear objectives. They wanted to create a room where students and visitors could learn about the values of the university; reflect the compassion the university provides for local and international communities; and create a professional and engaging place to prepare students, faculty, and alumni for mission trips.

After clarifying these objectives, the Advent team brainstormed ways to achieve them. We proposed a world map to cover one wall since Lipscomb students come from and missions teams depart for all corners of the globe. Photographs from the campaigns, scripture and branding were other key components in the proposal. We hoped all the elements would provide the inspiration and perspective desired for the audiences.

The makeover took place in two phases. The world map, printed on textured wallcovering, large format photographs, a cable management system for easily updating images, “Lipscomb Missions” in stand-off lettering, and vinyl quotations completed the initial phase. These elements were installed in just two weeks to be ready for the building’s ribbon cutting ceremony. The subsequent phase incorporated additional dimension and lighting to the world map creating an even stronger impression.

We are happy to report that the design elements and strategic colors brought Lipscomb’s objectives to life. Mark Jent, Coordinator of Missions Development, states, “As we began to dream about our new Missions Center…we never envisioned something quite as professional as we have now…until we met the Advent team, and they too caught our passion for the potential within this room. [Now,] our Missions Center is the central gathering place for mission teams of students as they prepare to go out and serve.”

Advent partnered with a local university to hold the first annual Nashville Award for Excellence in Logo Design. This event not only served the local design community by bringing it together to celebrate great design and best practices; it also helped the university promote its newly updated graphic design program before some of Nashville’s top designers.

The competition was held in conjunction with the university’s guest lecturer Kimberly Elam’s presentation on “Typographic Systems.” Direct mail, e-mail and grass roots marketing were used to attract Nashville’s graphic designers. Designers submitted over 150 entries, surpassing all expectations for the inaugural event. Designers from the event sponsors judged the competition and handed out four awards: one each for best icon design, best use of typography, people’s choice and best overall design. The first three award winners walked away with iPod Nanos and the best overall design winner was awarded a brand new MacBook. With prizes like these, who wouldn’t submit an entry?!

The event’s success yielded a high turnout, vast amounts of networking opportunities, and the university’s objective to present its target message to a relevant audience. Participants and organizers left looking forward to next year’s event.

Does managing your tradeshow schedule stress you out?

Does managing your tradeshow schedule stress you out? We see a lot of marketing managers running around like crazy to get everything ready for a show. They have to spend so much time managing pre-show logistics and details that they can’t think about making the show itself a success until they get there. However, this modus operandi is a formula for stress instead of success!

What if you had an assistant who could focus on taking care of all of the logistics for you? What if you didn’t have to worry about space reservation, show book/forms, shipping, drayage, installation & dismantle labor, interfacing with tradeshow services and dealing with union requirements? You would then be free to focus on strategy, messaging, lead capture and follow-up; the areas that are crucial to your firm’s success. Now that would take some stress out of your life!

Most marketing teams don’t have the budget for another assistant devoted to tradeshows – that’s where we come in. We are tradeshow professionals who deal with these industry issues every day. We know the ins and outs of working with tradeshow service providers, filling out the forms and handling all the dirty details. With our experience, we can likely save you money by meeting early-bird discounts and utilizing show contractors. We handle complete turn-key show management for many of our clients – everything from storage and maintenance of display properties, show schedule management, photographic inventory, to completion of show forms and setting up show labor… You can use us as-needed when you’re in a crunch, or set us up to be your tradeshow assistant.

Interested in finding out more about having a relaxing and successful trade show experience? Contact us for a consultation! Let us focus on the behind-the-scenes details of getting all the pieces and parts where and when you want them while you focus on the things that make you successful.

When Advent initially met with Orchid International, they identified several goals for their facilities. First, improve the image presented to prospective clients. Second, develop a “style guide” as a template for branding each facility. Next, convey the quality and detail of their products. And finally, show the scale and competencies of the overall company.

The Advent team brainstormed for ideas on how to meet these objectives in a cost-effective and user-friendly way. Ultimately, Orchid chose to repaint their lobby and office space, install acrylic standoffs holding artistic photos of their products, display products in museum-style cases, install new flooring and fixtures, install a brushed aluminum logo, and create custom wallcovering to show their facility locations.

One of the main components of any lobby makeover is incorporating the brand, product or service in the space to engage and foster a connection with the audience. Advent worked with Orchid’s owners and executive team as well as facility management through the whole process to meet this important goal.

The final project was quite a success. Chris Daniel from Orchid states, ““The Advent team provided the experience and resources necessary to help us achieve our goals. They truly listened…and through their creative talents they quickly delivered a comprehensive plan that not only met our budget, but also exceeded our expectations. Every element from paint colors to floor coverings, from displays to wall graphics, even the furniture, is spot on with how we wanted to brand Orchid.”

Who wouldn’t enjoy free spa treatments in a casual atmosphere after traveling to an industry trade show?

Who wouldn’t enjoy free spa treatments in a casual atmosphere after traveling to an industry trade show? Advent worked with a company in the healthcare industry to host just such an event for its prospects and clients at a recent trade show.

Advent’s client struggled with how to more effectively connect with its audience of nursing professionals at trade shows. Their goal was to strengthen their brand’s awareness and esteem among nurses and nurse supervisors who are a primary point of contact for the company.

Advent recommended a “Pre-Show Spa” event by invitation only to prospective clients as well as some current customers. The event was designed to pamper attendees and to connect the client’s brand with the attributes of a warm, inviting and supportive partner.

Each invitee received a vellum invitation by mail. As they checked in to the conference hotel they received a “reminder kit” which included a candle and T-Shirt with the company’s logo, as well as a reminder invitation card.

The spa occurred just before the show’s opening reception. Company personnel greeted each attendee as they entered and guided them through the spa’s various stations.

Attendees were treated to manicures, paraffin hand treatments and neck massages and were offered refreshments while they waited. This relaxing environment created an inviting opportunity for the company to connect with their target audience. Most attendees stayed for the entire event and used the chance to socialize and network with their peers.

A whopping 71% of invited prospects and customers attended the event — including some of the largest “case studies” and “reference” customers for their competition.

Buzz from the spa event continued at the trade show as the attendees came by the booth for more information. The client declared the event an overwhelming success, so much so that they mentioned it in its quarterly Earnings Call. In a post-show memo to employees, the Director of Sales said that the event helped make them the “It” company of the show.

360° Trade Show Marketing

Let’s talk about surround sound. The concept is simple: immerse the audience in sound to provide them with a richer, fuller experience

Let’s talk about surround sound. The concept is simple: immerse the audience in sound to provide them with a richer, fuller experience. Your trade show marketing experience can be enriched by the same principle.

As Steven Covey said, “One definition of insanity is to keep doing the same things and expect different results.” We often see our clients attending trade shows using the same simple strategy: show up and hope for the best. We wouldn’t host a party or an open house and not invite people to attend. It is imperative for marketers to create a multi-prong approach that encourages the highest possible return on trade show investments. At Advent, we call this a 360° trade show marketing approach. It breaks down trade show marketing into three categories: pre-show, at-show, and post-show marketing. We believe the companies that achieve the highest outcomes from trade shows are those who deliberately focus on all three categories.

Pre-show marketing includes all the elements that take place before the show invitations to visit the booth, mailers that express a key message, emails, or publicity that reinforces the launch of a new product or service. At-show marketing isn’t just what happens when the lights go on and the booth goes up. It also takes the perspective of the audience. What happens at the show? What is their experience like? At-show marketing can include consideration hotel room drops, the show’s daily newspapers, in-booth events, or out-of-booth complimentary events for exhibiting companies. Post-show strategy considers the follow up. How will we contact folks who came by the booth? How will we capitalize on at-show energy and excitement? Follow-up includes post show mailers, email and phone contacts, and strategies for dividing leads among the sales force.

Take a 360° perspective on trade show marketing and see the difference. Advent helps clients develop a plan that implements pre-show, at-show, and post-show strategies that achieve measurable outcomes and optimize ROI. It would be our honor to do the same with you.

For more information, contact us at info@adventresults.com or call (615) 742‑3355.

The event highlighted the way the Hope Diamond was originally delivered to the Smithsonian Institute. Two waves of invitations incorporated the historical and cultural significance of the piece. The first was an oversized mailer from the Smithsonian complete with a wax seal. The second was a box wrapped in a replica of the packaging used by Harry Winston to deliver the gift. The hook was a story telling how “hope” was originally delivered through the U.S. Postal Service along with a beautiful crystal paperweight printed with the company’s logo and the phrase, “Delivering Hope”.

The invitation given was for an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a private tour of the Smithsonian Exhibits including the Harry Winston Gallery with entertainment provided by a jazz trio. The curator for the Gems and Minerals Museum and the curator for the Smithsonian addressed the guests and offered a special private showing, as well as a question and answer session about museum pieces. One of the company executives then linked their services to the theme.

The event targeted 250 prospects and clients on the VIP level. The result? A staggering 16% of the invitees attended the event. The event succeeded in making the client much more visible to their prospects and clients while effectively communicating their key message.

Hammock Publishing needed a creative, cost-effective redesign to their lobby and office space by giving it a total makeover in just 2 weeks. Why the quick turn-around? They had an upcoming pitch meeting with one of their largest clients who had not been to visit in many years.

The makeover would serve two purposes: brand their facility more effectively and remind staff of what they do. Hammock hoped to dazzle the client from the moment they walked in the door. They planned to display pictures of their best productions and show the vast scope of their abilities. They also wanted to appeal to prospective clients by giving an extraordinary first impression.

Hammock had a short time frame and a tight budget. Advent and the creative team at Hammock spent 2 days brainstorming various means of accomplishing this goal and settling on a budget for the execution of the project. After Advent presented the full range of options, Hammock selected about 75% of the proposal, which included a tension fabric projection screen, a new lobby logo, custom printed wall covering, and stand-off graphics.

The final outcome: a new lobby in just two weeks from time of order to completed installation. The project was an absolute success and everyone is thrilled with the result.

Advent collaborated with the client to meet their goal of increasing brand-awareness

The stage was set runway-style for the Fiery Fashion Show. Advent collaborated with the client to meet their goal of increasing brand-awareness. Utilizing the tongue-in-cheek fashion show, our client premiered their new line of fire-resistant clothing.

A “rolling fire” projected onto three fabric screens setting the mood as the audience entered. Their logo took center stage in the dimly-lit room projected between the eye-catching “rolling fire” images. Flashing “siren” lights completed the picture of the firefighters emerging from within the fire.

After a siren sound effect signaled the start of the event, a PowerPoint presentation played, followed by the introduction of the emcee. The Fashion Show began with models appearing through the smoky effects of a fog machine. The emcee described the clothing and gave an overview of the selling points as each of the male models strutted down the runway. A marketing presentation and video followed. To close the show the sirens lit up, the siren sound effect played briefly, and the music began again. The models re-emerged from the “rolling fire” image and came down the catwalk once more, ending at center stage surrounded by smoke from the fog machine.

Surrounded by users and buyers, the models strutted their flame-resistant outer wear and wowed the audience with each uniform’s unique style. Engaging each user allowed them to be drawn into the product and the functions of each. This creative presentation of the client’s products to each of their divisions allowed them to provide a fresh spin on their image’s line.

With only a little over two weeks planning time, this fashion show changed the client’s image for the entire year. This show helped set the stage for them to create brand awareness for an entire year of marketing.

The ribbon fell last December during the opening of the new Nashville Chamber of Commerce lobby built in conjunction with Advent: Displays and Events. The Nashville Chamber of Commerce lobby makeover is one of many recently done in the Nashville business community to change the image presented to clientele entering their facilities.

The Nashville Chamber challenged Advent to bring their key messaging points to a centralized location in their facility. By providing a quick turn-around on an affordable budget, Advent used customized visuals to communicate the Chamber’s message to the people they interact with daily.

Brian Courtney, Vice-President of Communication of the Nashville Chamber stated, “We see a lot of traffic through our doors every day–members, future members, political and community leaders, business recruitment prospects, relocating families, tourists–and first impressions are so critical. We really needed to take a step back to evaluate what type of first impression we were making when people came through our lobby.”

The Chamber is only one of many companies faced with this challenge. Advent has also worked on environments for Lipscomb University, Hammock Publishing and Healthways.

While building the new Ezell Bible Building at Lipscomb University, an opportunity arose for a “missions” room where students and visitors could learn about the values of the university. After a complete environment makeover, the room reflects the compassion the university provides for the local and international communities.

Mark Jent, Coordinator of Missions Development at Lipscomb, remarked, “As we began to dream about our new Missions Center and the potential eternal impact it would have on our students, we never envisioned something as nice and professional as we have now. Our Missions Center is the central gathering place for teams of students as they prepare to go out and serve in the community, across the country and around the world.”

Advent first began transforming lobbies into a central messaging area about three years ago when they partnered with Healthways to tell a story in their Nashville office. Healthways can now guide their guests through the office in a narrative, rather than a tour. Advent continues to partner with companies around Nashville and the country to make face-to-face environments an opportunity for impact messaging.

Serving the Nashville community for almost 20 years, Advent aids customers across America and around the world with lobby makeovers, trade shows and events. Advent: Displays and Events helps businesses engage their audience with their message using face-to-face experiences.
New technologies and product developments have resulted in ingeniously engineered displays that allow highly effective branding, messaging, and product displays, while at the same time being designed to compress into small carrying cases.

Every day Americans watch people lose weight and “win big” on reality shows like “The Biggest Loser.” What you may not know is that weight-loss is not just important for personal health, it is also a crucial factor in the financial success of your tradeshow budget.

New technologies and product developments have resulted in ingeniously engineered displays that allow highly effective branding, messaging, and product displays, while at the same time being designed to compress into small carrying cases. For example, the emergence of dye-sublimation printed graphics on fabrics allows very large graphic areas to be rolled up and easily placed into small spaces for storage and shipping. Similarly, the emergence of aluminum extrusion as a design trend allows exhibitors to easily attach video monitors and product showcases, while also providing great connection to fabric graphics.

At Advent, we have developed solutions that can save our customers more than $100,000 over the course of two years, simply by rethinking the design and engineering of their booth. “Losing the weight” in trade show exhibiting can also create big cash wins by lessening freight, drayage, and installation and dismantle labor. Call one of our team members and ask for a free evaluation to see how we can “lighten up” your display — while still achieving an optimal design that clearly conveys your message.

Your customers need to be able to delve deeper into a presentation of products or information, but they want to do so in a context that is personal and that they control.

Marketing kiosks are excellent tools for interacting with your target audience. Take your show on the road, or promote your product or service in retail environments, public spaces, special events or on an exhibition floor. Kiosks enable marketers to blend strong branding, digital signage, interchangeable graphics, product display and lockable storage into a unique, interactive solution. Messaging can be dynamically changed through digital content, or new graphics and functionality can be added. Because they are constructed of modular components, our kiosks can also be reconfigured to suit different demands.
