Stretching your trade show budget
by Linda Benthall
Whether you are going to one or 10 trade shows or have a 10×10 or a 30×50, here are several tips to maximize the dollars you’ve set aside for this marketing initiative:
Register early ~ Exhibitors can usually save 20% by reserving their booth space before the earliest deadline.
Book show services early ~ You can save an average of 30% by scheduling services like labor, carpet, and electricity by the advance/discount dates.
Plan early ~ Avoid rush fees and ordering on the show floor by allowing enough time for “normal production” booth and graphic deadlines. You will save on production costs and eliminate “overnight” shipping.
Ship early ~ Sending your booth to the Advanced Warehouse skirts the possibility of your freight company billing you to wait in line to unload at the show dock. If your booth is small enough to send via Fedex or UPS, you will save a lot by using “ground” instead of an expedited service.
Roll in, roll out ~ Those of you in the 10×10 and 10×20 categories can avoid material handling/drayage charges by bringing your display in with you.
